Founders

Prof. Anuradha Mahasinghe
Anuradha Mahasinghe is a Professor in Computational Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Colombo. He is the founder of the Hons Degree program on Computational Mathematics and the current Deputy Director of the Center for Mathematical Modeling. He has about 12 years experience in the field of quantum computing, from his doctoral and post-doctoral research at the University of Colombo, the University of Western Australia and the University of Auckland. He pioneered in introducing quantum computing to Sri Lankan academia and works on quantum circuits, quantum walks and also quantum annealing. In addition to his role in mathematical sciences, he is known as an award-winning writer.

Dr. Kaushika De Silva
Kaushika De Silva is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics in the University Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He received his PhD from Purdue University, US in 2016, specializing in Functional Analysis and C*-algebras. Since 2019, he is working on mathematical foundations of quantum computing, in particular, on group theoretic aspects of quantum compiling. Also he is working on finding efficient solutions to combinatorial optimization problems through quantum metaheuristics. Currently, he resides in Perth, and is attached to the quantum computing research group in the University of Western Australia.

Awansika Nimuthumana
Awansika Nimuthumana received her BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematical Finance from University of Colombo in 2022. She has worked on mathematical models and scientific computing for her undergraduate research and is currently working on providing efficient solutions for decision problems using sophisticated solution techniques. She is also an artist who has adorned newspaper pages, and she has done an exhibition of mathematical and algorithmic art at the Lionel Wendt art gallery, Colombo, in 2023.
